Aktion Saubere Stadt

*** About Goth-Trad ***

“A one man army mutating the UK hardcore continuum in Japan.”
(Kode 9, Hyperdub)

“If we must compare, ‘Mad Raver’s Dance Floor’ combines acid era Afx, Bass Terror era Alec Empire, The Prodigy around the time of Experience and Shinso era DJ Krush… This third album is a consecration. A defining album, and one of the year’s best.”

“Goth-Trad might be based in Japan, but his sound resonates with the UK Sinodub/grime experiments of Jammer, Kode 9, and Horsepower.”
(Blackdown, www.pitchforkmedia.com)

“Vibrant, unhinged and unpredictable.”
(Jamie Vex’d, Planet Mu)

A unique producer with a unique style, Goth-Trad has emerged from the Japanese electronic scene in the last few years as one of the most arresting artists from his generation. Freely playing samplers, keyboards and even self-made instruments, ‘The Sound Originator’ Goth-Trad creates remarkable dance music with an abstract approach. From electronica to noise, from dub and reggae to jungle and rave music, grime to dubstep, Goth-Trad has always experimented and in the process developed his own unique style: blending influences and delivering music that is constantly evolving.

He is enjoying respect from across the dubstep and electronica scenes in Europe and the US with people like The Bug, Kode 9, Blackdown, Juju and Skream all showing their interest in Goth-Trad and his music. Mary Ann Hobbs also showed her interest and appreciation by playing some of his tracks on her Breezeblock show on BBC Radio 1. In 2007 Goth-Trad debuted on UK labels Skud Beats and Deep Medi Musik, with two 12” releases that quickly sold out; he embarked on his fifth European tour, this time taking in 10 cities in 8 countries over one month including the UK, France, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Czech Republic and Slovakia. Goth-Trad played live at each of the dates, performing his own classics and brand new tracks in front of eager audiences.

In the UK he was invited by Mala to play at the now legendary DMZ night. He became the first artist to play a live show at the event, showcasing his own take on the sound pioneered by so many of the DJs and producers who have appeared on the bill in the past. His eclectic and varied live show received an exceptional reception from the crowd, showing how far his sound had travelled since he started more than ten years ago. Whilst in London he also appeared on Kiss 100FM, one of the capital’s leading radio stations, where he performed live on Hatcha & Crazy D’s dubstep show. Before leaving London he made an additional radio appearance on the Boomnoise & Pokes show, on Sub FM.

*** About the DJs ***

Having his roots in Bratislava’s hip-hop-scene, DJ Biomat is certainly one of the big DJ-talents of the Central-European dubstep, combining ghostly dubstep & grime-instrumentals with his outstanding turntablism-skills. DvaUnlimited are promoters of Bratislava’s legendary BWO!-nights, and they are hosting a radioshow on Radio Tlis.

Whereas Raz Marty has his roots in Graz’ reggae-scene, Christo FX is strongly influenced by minimal techno. In their amazing back-to-back dj-sets as El Rakkas, the likes of Säköh and Basic Channel are mixed up with Digital Mystikz & UK Dub rarities. Their own productions have been well received by the international dubstep-scene and can be heard on several radio-stations such as London’s Sub FM.

As two thirds of Vienna’s very own 55.rnd, Ca.tter and M-Step can refer to releases on labels such as Cheap Records and ~temp. Their current productions are strongly influenced by dubstep, resulting in deep and at the same time ultra-dark arrangements arround 140bpm.

Jay-S & IZC started Play FM’s monthly 2-step, grime & dubstep feature back in 2003, tying the sound currently referred to as dubstep in a broader musical context of the hardcore-continuum. Their sets include lots of unreleased material, with their own tunes of the forthcoming Dubsquare imprint among it.
