As warmup for Mala’s set later that night, DJ Plak from Vienna’s Bounce Crew was joining us in the studio for a little chat & mix - quite turbulent show w/ jumping needles, a broken system and the station’s emergency system triggered by Merzbow LOL!

In case you like to emphasise low-frequencies, you need high frequencies as well, in order to create contrast. Subbass driven music therefore demands sharp hi-heads and high-frequency pads, so that the bass can be perceived perfectly on the dancefloor. However, also high-frequency light, such as blue and ultraviolet, can create a simmilar contrast, underpinning low sound frequencies.
Besides, a recent study shows that a significant increase in alertness and speed of information processing could be achieved by blue light as compared to normal light. Responsible for this effect seems to be a newly discovered system of photoreceptors for circadian rhythms, working non-visual and responding to blue light (460nm).
Two hours of bass mediation, this time with special guests marty and christo FX of El Rakkas Crew from Graz presenting some of their fresh dubs! Plus unheard bits by Metalbox Products, Dashman Productions, MacKoal, Ramadanman, T2R, Underground Dance Loops, IZC, a couple of recent releases by TRG, Caspa and Mala plus a brief politrix update on the G8-summit in Heiligendamm/Germany.

Around 1500 people attended this year’s Euromayday-protests in Vienna. The manifestation slogan “working precarious, living precarious, fighting together” was emphasised by several sound-systems, such as AXID, EKH and Ladyfest.

A detailed report on the peaceful protest, including a picture-gallery, was published at no-racism.net. More parades are scheduled for June 30 (Rainbow Parade, demanding equal rights for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered people) and for July 7 (Free Parade, fighting for self-organisation and opposing the criminalisation of cultural producers outside the cultural mainstream).
